Gielissen receives prestigious award for Ferrari World Theme Park
9 major criteria
IPMA-NL is the Dutch branch of IPMA International, a renowned organization dedicated to
enhancing the quality and professionalism of project management and promoting
knowledge of project management within as many sectors as possible. Naturally, IPMA-NL focuses on projects executed by Dutch companies and organizations. To qualify for the award, the project in question has to fulfill 9 major criteria, including project leadership, project organization, innovation, customer satisfaction and result. The award has a significant exemplary function.
2 ½ day audit
The award is not given lightly, and that is reflected in the thorough and extensive
audit by a team of four auditors. They
spent two and a half days verifying all aspects of the aforementioned criteria
at Gielissen Eindhoven. Their
findings were compiled into the jury report, which showed that the value
engineering, project organization and coordination, teamwork and final result,
in particular, scored high.
1,500 projects every year
Jury chairman Adri Duivesteijn (in day-to-day life a councilor for the municipality
of Almere) presented the Excellence Award to Bart Wigman, Gielissen’s CEO. In
his speech of thanks, he said he was honored by this special trophy but that
the management of the Ferrari World Theme Park did not differ in quality from all
the other 1,500 large and small projects the company executes every year. “The
quality we are being awarded for here is our standard,” said Wigman.
Ferrari F1 project
The Ferrari World Theme Park, an attraction park based primarily on Formula 1 racing,
is located in Abu Dhabi, near the F1 Grand Prix circuit opened in 2009. This spectacular complex (an area of 250,000 m², of
which 120,000 m² is covered) comprises 26 high-tech attractions. Gielissen built two of the attractions in the covered
area: the Ferrari Factory Experience and
the Ferrari History Ride. The
total area of the project was 7,000m².
