From London double-decker to ING Football Bus

In the run-up to the World Cup, a lovely orange bus was to be seen throughout the country: the ING Football Bus, which was, and still is,  used for all kinds of activities and events, whether or not within the context of the World Cup. ING – with orange as its house colour – has been a main sponsor of the Dutch team since the beginning of 2010. The bus, an old London double-decker dating back to 1981, was subjected to a total makeover both inside and out, and that in just three weeks' time.

Special job

This was a special job in many respects. The total rebuild had to happen within three weeks, because ING had a really tough time finding a suitable bus and they were bound by contract to the first training session of the Dutch team.

Stripping out

Within that time, we stripped out the entire bus, renewed the floor and the open roof, replaced the wiring and heating and, of course, provided the bus with a complete new 'Orange' interior. So with orange bench seats, mini-football pitches, World Cup balls on the ceiling, huge plasma screens, photos of jubilant 'Orange' supporters and so forth. And we succeeded: after precisely three weeks it was ready to roll and could start the promotion tours.
