A quite special job for a quite special musical

"Soldaat van Oranje", or Soldier of Orange. Who is not familiar with the story of one of the Netherlands' greatest resistance heroes? Following the book and the film came the musical at a historic location in a huge hangar on the former Valkenburg military airfield in Katwijk.

Unique theatre concept

The wartime experiences of a number of students from Leiden, among them Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, have been translated into a theatre spectacle that has yet to meet its match, not only because of the tale of courage and the fitting location, but also because of the unique theatre concept.

Our contribution

The TheaterHangaar, as the theatre complex is known, is of course equipped with all kinds of hospitality facilities and other public spaces such as an entrance hall and cloakroom, a foyer and a restaurant (Restaurant Noordeinde with a view across the runway) and even an events space featuring an exhibition about World War Two.

All these facilities are accommodated in a separate building in front of the theatre itself (interior design by design agency SEVV). And that at once sets the link with Gielissen, because we furnished this building completely on behalf of TheaterHangaar B.V.: from curtains to furniture and from cloakroom to lighting. A quite special job for a quite special musical.
