What is sustainability?
Sustainability is based on a simple principle: Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations.
Sustainability is important to making sure that we have and will continue to have, the water, materials, and resources to protect human health and our environment.
Gielissen Interiors|Exhibitions|Events was founded in 1937 on the principles of stewardship and servanthood. Today, 80 years later, we continue to honor these principles by producing environmentally responsible products in ways that conserve our world today and preserve it for future generations.
It is clear to us that greenhouse gas emissions are to be limited as much as possible and that we all have the global responsibility to work on finding alternative solutions by focusing on low carbon energy generation methods is of the utmost importance.
Gielissen uses highly sustainable natural resources in our products, and we protect the environment through efficient operational strategies. Ongoing performance is evaluated with unbiased metrics, and our continuous improvement initiatives focus in the key areas that impact the environment and influence our long-term corporate stewardship.
Gielissen Interiors is granted the FSC CoC certification. For a company that uses a lot of wood and wood products during production, as is the case with Gielissen interior projects, the FSC CoC certification is proof of sustainable entrepreneurship. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international organization committed to responsible forest management worldwide. The certification demonstrates Gielissen’s dedication to the social, environmental and economic benefits of responsible foresting.
Certification of Chain of Custody (CoC) assures the (end) user that the wood or wood product is followed through all stages of processing and distribution and that the raw material for a product originates from well managed forests. CoC certification means that all companies in the supply chain, from the sawmill to the factory for the end product, are prepared to keep all FSC certified wood products separate from other products, both from a physical and administrative perspective.
