Gielissen & Karmijn: growing together

Gielissen chooses Karmijn to facilitate future growth

Gielissen, market leader in interiors, exhibitions and events, is to enter a cooperation with Karmijn Kapitaal. Gielissen has grown exponentially over the last few years in both sales and profit and would like to continue in this vein. A considerable share of this growth will be autonomous, but we need extra capital in order to achieve an acceleration and to focus on acquisition. Which is why Gielissen is especially pleased with the arrival of Karmijn Kapitaal as a minority shareholder. The current shareholder and CEO Bart Wigman will remain the major Gielissen shareholder and will also continue to manage day-to-day business.

Bart Wigman: I am looking forward to a great cooperation with Karmijn. I am delighted with the new opportunities that this opens up, including possibilities for acquisitions.

This year, Gielissen will celebrate its 80th anniversary with the motto 'growing together', which is a clear reference to the fact that it can only grow through ensuring its customers' growth. Now
the motto has acquired a second meaning. Further growth can now also be achieved with Karmijn Kapitaal as a shareholder. The coming period will witness opportunities for growth being grasped to push through possible acquisitions.

Hadewych Cels from Karmijn: "Gielissen is a wonderful company, that has grown to become one
of the biggest parties in the Netherlands in the field of interior fitting, exhibitions and events. As market leader, Gielissen has a strong position in the Netherlands and beyond and we hope to assist the company together with Bart and his team in the future.

As the following step in the realization of objectives for growth, Gielissen has opened its own UK branch in London. Francis Mugford, who will manage this branch, has many years of experience with events and exhibitions and, from London, will be better able to serve Gielissen's present and future British customers.

About Karmijn

Karmijn Kapitaal was established in 2010 by three female entrepreneurs and invests venture capital in medium and small Dutch companies. Karmijn perceives diversity and human
values in business as success factors for sustainable growth and focuses on the 'softer' aspects of entrepreneurship, such as care of employees and customers, long-term vision and stimulating creativity and innovation.

Karmijn has previously invested in Fred de la Bretonière, television producer Tuvalu Media, Jopen beer and financial technology company FiveDegrees. Gielissen is the third investment by Karmijn this autumn.
