Hunter Douglas

Creators of shadow

For Hunter Douglas, the world's largest manufacturer of window coverings, Gielissen played a role in a unique stand at the R+T in Stuttgart, an international trade fair specializing in indoor and outdoor blinds.

Gielissen started exploring a concept that matched the innovative and modern character of Hunter Douglas. The designer landed on an urban style, with a focus on reuse and sustainability, inspired by old factory buildings and their grounds. The result: a large loft-like space with a warm, industrial look.

Winner of two R+T Innovation awards

A unique aspect of the booth was the large LED screen on which various sunshades were digitally displayed. Projectors simulated light that was synchronized with these images, creating moving, realistic-looking shadows. Atmosphere and warmth were achieved by using different materials including concrete, wood, bricks and carpet.

Hunter Douglas won two Innovation Awards during the R + T - one in the category “Technical textiles,” and one in the category “Energy efficiency.” It was a wonderful compliment to be able to create a booth for this prize-winning company.
